Tafraoute Climbing
Weekend bouldering expedition in the South West of Morocco.
Haraka Baraka / الحركة بركة
Guided by London based boulder and local climbers, you will explore the granite boulder problems in remote southwest Morocco.
All levels welcome : V0 - V8
A five day bouldering expedition amongst the the oldest mountains in Morocco. .
This is a short, focused bouldering trip into the Anti-Atlas - the oldest mountain range in Morocco - based out of the small Amazigh town of Tafraoute in the Ameln Valley. You fly into Agadir and drive up into the mountains with us; everything from there is taken care of. The rock here is granite. Big, coarse, beautifully shaped boulders set against red hillsides and almond groves - with problems that suit total beginners and strong climbers alike. Over four days you move between three distinct areas: the Tamayurt Boulders, the High Country Boulders (a short hike away, with the best crack climb on the trip), and the 2nd and 3rd Tor locations, finishing at the Painted Rocks for sunset. Evenings are spent in town. Tagines in local restaurants, a leather-making class in the afternoon, and on the final night, dinner with music courtesy of close friend and guide, Ahmed.
Difficulty: all levels welcome (V0 - V8)
The problems span a wide range, from easy slabs and jugs to challenging overhangs and crack climbs. You don't need prior experience of bouldering outside - only a willingness to try new things and enjoy the outdoors. Days are shaped around the group; no one is left behind or held back.
Dining: Moroccan breakfasts at the hotel, lunches in local restaurants (choose from omelettes, sandwiches, tagines), and evening meals in town. All food and bottled water are included. Dietary needs (inc. vegetarian, vegan, allergies) are no problem; just confirm ahead of the trip.
Who this is for: Anyone who wants to experience a genuinely different side of Morocco - the south, the Anti-Atlas, the Amazigh culture - built around good climbing and good company. You don't need to be a hardcore climber. You need to appreciate the sport and enjoy being outside in the mountains.

High Country Boulders
A short drive out of town takes us to the village of Ighir n’targente. Following the coloured dot path we ascend a mountain trail over about 2 kilometres, eventually reaching the High Country Boulders. A mixed set of problems encompassing overhang and slab.
Tor Boulders
The 2nd and 3rd Tor boulders are impressive piles of granite boulders rising out of the landscape. Each Tor has over 25 climbs with the opportunity to discover more.
