In the first edition of the AlUla Training Camp, cyclists are invited to experience breathtaking landscapes and world-class roads in the heart of Saudi Arabia’s emerging cycling hub, AlUla.

Led by competitive cyclist, medical doctor, and performance analyst Micha Konigs, the camp offers participants a week of focused, high-level training, combined with expert analysis and personalized feedback to refine technique, build performance, and enjoy their time on the bike.

Micha Königs

Performance analyst, sports medic and athlete leading the AlUla trianing camp

Born and raised in Germany, Micha has been competing in national-level cycling events since childhood, developing elite athletic capability and a deep analytical understanding of performance, both as a proffessional sports perfomance analyst and a qualified medic.

He has a strong connection to the Kingdom, having helped organise the the first ever touring trip in Saudi Arabia with Haraka Baraka in December 2025, and he is soon to work as a medic in the Saudi German hospital in Jeddah.

Combining scientific understanding with genuine passion, Micha brings expertise and energy to the camp, and is excited to help riders elevate their performance in one of the world’s most exciting cycling destinations.

ITINERARY

Highlights include:

Led by German competitive cylist, doctor and perfomance analyst

In-depth analysis and perfomance review

Cycling to routes from the AlUla tour into remote mountainous desert

Enjoying authentic farm lodging in the AlUla oasis

Interact and learn about improving your performance, health and recovery

  • Meet 6 pm at farm at AlUla

    • Introductions, training breakdown & dinner 

    • Relax, eat, sleep.

    • Recover from travel

    1st night

  • Acclimatising and prepping for the week

    • Easy ‘coffee’ ride

    • Leaded ride for 2-3h hours, with possibility of cutting short or prolong 

    • Mobility and strength work 

    • Rest and fuel for the upcoming days

    2nd night

  • High intensity training begins

    • 4h+ ride 

    • First short bursts of intensity in a playful interval setting integrated

    • Active recovery / mobility session in the evening, led by qualified personal trainer

    3rd night

  • Lighter cycling session to maintain energy levels

    • Cycling specific strength workout in the gym

    • Access to sauna and swimming pool 

    • Optional 1 hour recovery spin in the evening


    4th night

  • Full recovery day

    • Access to sauna and pool

    • Yoga & stretching session led by qualified personal trainer

    • High protein meals

    5th night

  • Training peaks to really challenge and push the riders.

    • Long ride, mostly at comfort pace to achieve high volume

    • Incopriating Saudi Tour route into the loop

    • Finishing off with the iconic climb; Skyviews of Harrat Uwayrid. (8.1 kilometer, average grade of this climb is 5.7% with a maximum of 18.5%)

    • Enjoy the sunset on top of the Harrat Uwayrid, with transport available back to the farmstay (inc. bikes)

    6th night

  • Training peaks to really challenge and push the riders.

    • Long rides, mostly at comfort pace to achieve high volume in 

    • One way route of the saudi tour into remote countryside

    • Enjoy the final sunset in the lava fields North of AlUla where the cycle finishes

    • Transport back to farmstay (bikes inc.)

    7th night

  • Final meal together and the trip comes to an end

    • Post training thoughts

    • In-depth analysis and review from lead athlete and coach; Micha

    • Transport availble to airport (and beyond if applicable)

    • Cycling coach & analytics for the week

    • Accommodation

    • All meals (including snacks e.g carb mix) & bottled water

  • All cuisine will be locally sourced and, when possible, from the host farm

    It is not an issue to accommodate for allergies and dietary requirements

  • The training camp is hosted in a farm to allow for a authentic stay in AlUla.

    As a result, vegtables and meat will be locally sourced

  • We recommend attendees have decent fitness level as well as familiarity in a variety of cycling training.

    This will ensure attendees enjoy the training camp.

  • Early February in AlUla offers ideal weather for cycling, with daytime highs around 23-24°C (73-75°F) and nighttime lows dropping to 7-12°C (45-54°F)
